One of the world’s most notable actors and directors, John Malkovich, is currently enjoying the pleasant vibes of Opatija. The artist of Croatian roots has spent some time in renowned Bevanda Restaurant, in company of violinist Ino Mirkovic and other friends. At the moment, Malkovich is touring the region with musical recital ‘Report on the Blind“, which features him reading the prose of Argentinean writer Ernest Sabat with ensemble performing in the background. In Croatia, he will be partnered with pianist Anastasia Terenkova.

Althought the terrace was full of guests, Malkovich had a pleasant time and was even in mood to answer a few questions to Croatia Times source.

Is your visit to Opatija of business nature?

Not really. As you know, I am currently on a tour. I was in Ljubljana last Thursday, and in Udine on Friday. I checked in here to take a break. I really need that now. I really need relaxing.

Are you ready for your performance in Zagreb?

Of course. I am very happy to visit Croatian Capital. We are coming in October, and I hope everything will go smooth.

The other day, the same city hosted an exhibition called ‘Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich’, which included photographs of Sandro Miller.

Did you like it?

Yes, the reactions were fantastic.

Thank you. I really hope my performance in October will follow the success.

From what one can tell, Bevanda did great to make the famous movie artist comfortable. Malkovich was introduced to a large wine cellar, having about 800 bottles of wine and a selection of Croatian olive oil products. Since this was the actor’s first time in Opatija, he enjoyed the local delicacies of Kvarner region– risotto, sea bass and roasted shrimps. “This is exceptionally delicious. Exceptionally,” Malkovich commented. In one of his previous interviews, he noted that the best holiday he had in life took place in Croatian settlement of Palmizana.

Bevanda’s director, the award-winning sommelier Klaudio Jurcic, did not hide appreciation for his guest. “During the years, many famous celebrities took a seat in Bevanda, and Malkovich made a great impression. He is having this calmness and modesty which can’t pass unnoticed”, Jurcic explained.

Malkovich will perform in Zagreb’s Lisinski Hall on October 7th. Schedule your arrival and take part in what will certainly be a fascinating evening of music and literature.
