Did you know that Croats who lived on the coast in past centuries had a habit of moving to highlands during summer? The sea was fine way to refresh oneself, but high mountain air seemed more plausible to these Croatians of the old times. That may sound odd to contemporary reader, but one look at the image above may shaken the belief that coasts are the only solution to summer heat.
The photos in this article were taken in the region of Lika. It is Croatia’s mountainous part that connects Adriatic shores with the country’s northern regions. A sort of an undiscovered jewel, Lika features gorgeous forests and natural sites that remain untouched by human intervention.
