The Adriatic Times Sinke

This was a great year for Croatian bar scene, as numerous cool places opened their doors. For example, May brought a brand new dining spot in Split‘s Josipa Jovica Street. Situated on the ground floor of a shopping mall is a charming Green Caffe, which offers healthy meals and vitamin-rich beverages. It is a perfect spot to relax and detoxicate, not to mention enjoy some rather cozy interior.

“We wanted to provide our guests with tastes of nature, and introduce them to food which was organically harvested without use of chemical compounds,” owners of Green Caffe explained their approach. “We want to prove that life without unnatural food additions is possible.”

There are plenty of things to try in this novel Split snack bar. In addition to smoothies and organic shakes, visitors can enjoy healthy pizzas, pancakes and ice creams of all sorts. Raw cakes and aromatic brews are also an option, while soups and veggie polpette are stars of the menu. For those who still have attachment to fast food, there are sausages and burgers , all made in vegetarian school of cooking.

The interior is work of Tihana Runje, who owns a furniture salon called Kare. Thanks to her, Green Caffe is a well-illuminated space that greatly adds to the dining experience. Inviting warm colors contribute to guest’s satisfaction, and nature-inspired details underline the whole philosophy of the place.

If being in Dalmatia’s capital and thinking about switching to a green diet, there’s no reason to avoid this great spot under Marjan peaks. Furthermore, we are more than certain that staff will have plenty of advice for your newfound nutrition style. Green Caffe is a dining place with an attitude, and cherishes food as much as more conventional (read meaty) competitors.  Give it a try, even if your dining habits are different- you might have a pleasant surprise.
