In a recent list of world’s best beaches, CNN didn’t forget Croatia as a destination worthy of including. In a very elaborate list that took in consideration the best times to visit certain localities, the gorgeous Stiniva of Vis Island has been mentioned with accolades. CNN authors also underlined the historical background of this destination, as it was an important hideout for resistance movement against Nazis in World War II.
In addition to everything mentioned in CNN article, we add another unique feature of this beach. It has inspired the famous anime master Hayao Miyazaki for his movie Porco Rosso and serves as a home to the main character.
Not a stranger to lists of world’s best coastal localities, Stiniva can’t be accessed by large vessels and requires some effort to reach by foot. Declated a natural monument in 1967, the cove is one of the most beloved sites on Vis Island.
