Located in the region of Croatia called Kvarner, the County of Kostrena is quite popular tourist destination. One can find it next to large port of Rijeka, providing summer home to tourists from all corners of the world.
Kostrena has been mentioned by name as early as 15th century, its inhabitants known for their capable sailing skills. Captains that crossed Suez Channel and saved the survivors of Titanic draw their origins from this Croatian part. Even the county’s emblem has a large wooden ship depicted on it.
Technically a large peninsula, Kostrena has many attractive beaches, such as those in the valleys of Zurkovo, Svezanj, Nova voda and Perilo. Full of charming spots and interesting places to visit, it is a place you don’t want to miss if being in Croatia, especially if you are staying in Kvarner region.
