All Saints Day: Remembering Those We Miss
Today marks an important date on Croatian calendar, as the nation cherishes All Saints Day. It is a feast dedicated to persons we loved and cared about, but which have departed from this world. The origin of holiday is Catholic, associated with the belief that deceased people become saints in Heaven. However, people of all beliefs regard the date with respect.
All Saints Day usually comes with visiting local cemeteries and decorating graves of the deceased. The scenery is colorful yet decent, especially when the night comes and the candlelight overtakes the landscape. Below is a photo gallery of this feast in Dubrovnik, Osijek, Zadar, Sumpetar, Makarska and Zagreb.
