As promised earlier, our field team visited the renowned Red Bull Air Race 2015 event, and made some rather stunning photographs. Rovinj sky provided much excitement, as kerosene-fueled racers engaged in impressive stunts, fighting for every second against their rivals. Flying through what experts described as a very difficult air-track, pilots needed a lot of nerve and courage. Yet, their talents were greatly appreciated by attending crowds, as no flyer’s name will be forgotten in the hearts of Rovinj residents.
Of course, Red Bull Air Race 2015 was visited by a large number of foreign visitors as well. In addition to flying spectacle, these people could enjoy local hospitality, featured through dozens of Istrian inns and diners. The region is well known for its impressive wine industry and truffle quality, leaving no guest without positive impression. After all, Rovinj stands as one of Croatia’s most active tourist destination, and annually increases its potential with new accommodation options and cultural events.
The most notable feature of Rovinj is certainly Baroque Basilica dedicated to St. Euphemia, built in 1736 on the top of old Christian structures. As such, it was certainly a very impressive landmark to pilots, as their machines flew over its lovely bell tower.
