Recipe of the Day: Octopus and Potato Fry
Not only does the octopus look like something from another planet, it also tastes like that. The soft, juice-soaked meat rarely fails to impress an honest consumer, especially if it is done under traditional Croatian peka-dish. But today, we are cooking octopus without peka. Here is what you can do with this underwater delicacy in your home.
What you will need:
2 kg octopus
1,5 kg potato
3 smaller cloves of onion
Olive oil
Olives (both green and black)
2 tomatoes
2 dcl white wine
What you will do:
For the best results, the octopus should be as fresh as possible. Fry if on the hot oil from all the sides. Potato, onion and tomatoes should be sliced and spiced with salt, pepper and olive oil. At this point, you should also add olives of both colors.
From the aforementioned veggies, form a layer on the bottom of your cooking bowl. On the top of it, insert the octopus, and roast in the oven for 40 minutes at 200 °C.
A few minutes before thermal processing is complete, open the oven and pour wine over the food. Turn off the heat, as there will be plenty of it inside the oven, so the ingredients will continue to roast. Finally, take out the food and serve hot, in company of a good wine label.
