Could This be The New Yugo?
One of Yugoslavia’s unofficial symbols is a tiny car call Yugo. Thanks to being a star in several notable movies, it became widely known across the world. Since Croatia was part of Yugoslavia, you may still find these vehicles around its roads. But who knows, maybe a new Yugo is heading our way?
Thanks to Macedonian car designer Mihael Merkler, we can see what the future of Yugo may look like. Yugo GT 5000 is the follower of model 311, but it comes in larger and more impressive looks and a number of high-tech gadgets.
Aggressive in design, having LED lights and 265 mm tires, the new Yugo is nothing like the models of the past. Merkler also imagined it to have 5-liter V8 engine capable of developing the raw muscle of 600 HP. In addition to eight-phase gear shift, this car could reach 96 km/h (60 mp/h) in merely 2,8 seconds. Speaking of maximum velocity, the vehicle could grab the road with 322 km/h.
Of course, this is just a concept of a talented designer. The world of automobiles shouldn’t expect Yugo on steroids anytime soon. However, it is nice to know the possibilities and what may come in future.
There are alternatives, of course. Rimac C_Two is Croatian Hypercar of the next generation just waiting for drivers to make use of its powerful engines. And it is not a concept, but a vehicle ready to be ordered for your garage.
