Searching the vicinity of Metkovic in the hopes of finding good photo material was a good decision for our photographer Ivan Petrov. He accidently stumbled upon a beautiful pennant, taking a rest (and maybe even some food) in the shallow waters of the Neretva River.
Pennants are typical for more southern parts of Europe, but can be seen in Italy and Croatia as well. They are known as nature’s ballet dancers, due to their pink feathers and posing on one leg (they actually reserve heat that way, and holding the pose doesn’t use any muscle at all). The one caught on camera is not very pink, but who knows, maybe he is just changing clothes for the next dancing scene.
