About Vir
On the shores of Dalmatia region in Croatia, one can find an Island of Vir, and the settlement sharing its name. As a part of Zadar County, it is surrounded by crystal-sea of Povljanski Channel and features many secluded coves and valleys.
Noting human presence even in distant Stone Age, Vir has turned itself towards modern tourism and hospitality services. Many come to enjoy its fine beaches, such as Duboka Draga, Lucica, Zitna Cove and Kozjak.
A local fort, called Virska Kastelina, has been built in past to protect local population from Turkish invaders and pirate attacks. The settlement also has a number of old churches and chapels.
