About Šibenik

Internationally renowned for being a home to notable music, theater and art festivities, Sibenik is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Dalmatia region.  Its landmark is Cathedral of St. James, which serves as a city’s symbol and is an official UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In past, Sibenik was often threatened by outside forces, thus the locals constructed large forts in order to safeguard its premises. Today, they are romantic testament of old times and determination of locals to keep their freedom. Most known are those of St. Michael, St. John, St. Nicholas and Subicevac.

Sibenik is also loved for its central beach called Banje. As a summer destination, it is a great base to explore the surrounding Dalmatian landscapes, not to mention Croatian islands in the vicinity.
