The Dubrovnik Times Sinke

Do you wish to have a small part of Croatia on your table today? Here is a recipe for Dubrovnik Almond Cake, a traditional dish that might become your favorite sweet specialty. In the old slang of local populace, almonds are called mjendule, so it isn’t wrong to call this delicacy Mjednula Cake.

What you will need

7 eggs

200 g almonds

200 g walnuts

200 g sugar

100 g chocolate

1 orange

1 lemon

Dubrovnik Almond Cake Recipe

Manually stir the egg yolks as much as you can, combining them with sugar and fruit juice. Grate the orange peel and ground the walnuts. Combine these two ingredients and add them to the yolks mixture.

In another bowl, stir the egg whites and mix them with lemon and orange peels, as well as grounded almonds. Now you have two mixtures, which will be used as cake layers. Form them one atop the other, and put in the pre-heated oven at 170 °C. Bake it for about 50 minutes, finalising the preparation with chocolate glaze.

Dobar tek!
