Although you probably got used to our photos taken at sea, this one was actually taken next to Veliko Jezero Lake. A small isle in its middle is called Sveta Marija, and features a Benedictine monastery dating from 12th century.
The structure was abandoned in 1869, but not before providing the nation with poets such as Vetranovic Maro and Durdevic Ignjat. Another influential figure who spent his time on Sveta Marija was Byzanthologist Anselmo Banduri.
Veliko Jezero (“Grand Lake”) can be found on the island of Mljet. Despite being connected with open sea, it has sweat water.
